The Trial of Dennis the Menace

The Trial of Dennis the Menace is a piece of children’s theatre with music and songs throughout. It centers on characters from the much loved British comic The Beano. It was commissioned by London’s Soutbank Centre and made in collaboration with the poet and playwright Caroline Bird, who conceived the story and wrote the play and song lyrics.

Sadly, there is no recording of the production, but here is a piece for violin and cello that I wrote as a compositional study in order to find the right tone of voice for the show’s music. This recording was made in a development workshop.
